May 24, 2007 Hey All, It’s been too long since I wrote in my journal. There are so many cool things going on!! The boys from my new band “Live Ammo” and I have been hard at work, (well mostly) - laughs out loud - jamming, playing, singing and practicing our stuff to knock your socks off. “Live Ammo” consists of “McGraw” (Ray Champagne), on lead, rhythm guitar and vocals. Ray’s a very talented guy who has a passion for and has been extensively involved in music for a very long time. He and his wife Donna, own “Rebel Sound” a really cool, unique company building customized amps, offering vintage restoration, repairs, guitar lessons and a full line of guitar accessories. Check em out at www.rebelsound.org or give em a call at 780-963-0320. Then there’s “Mr. Pretty Boy” (Matt Schideman), from Onoway, AB, on bass and harp. Matt and I’ve been working together for about 4 months now and this young man blows my mind with his passion & dedication to music. He plays the harp extremely well, and to have that in our band is a major asset and adds beautifully to some of my original songs. Matt even made his own bass, so if you see us out playing, check it out its pretty sweet! We decided on going with the name “Live Ammo” when our friend Norman we jam with suggested the name and we thought it fit us just right! We are creating a sound like no other, what these guys bring to the table and add to my songs is incredible! A mix of country/classic country/rock/folk and even pop!! So can you say versatile? We do a little of everything cause I love all music man-and I think you can hear a little of everything in most of my stuff. We also add our own little spin to some of the cover songs we do. Another endeavor we have recently begun will be hosting a Saturday afternoon jam at the Cossack Inn in Spruce Grove come mid June. Our vision is to create a comfortable atmosphere for music lovers, musicians, singers/songwriters to come out and jam and create lasting musical relationships with people from around the community. We are in need of a good old fashioned, regular jam around these parts!! So come on out, bring your gear, your ears, your voice, and your spoons, whatever you got and be a part of the birthing of the jam at the Cossack. Who knows maybe you’ll end up forming a band of your own! August 16, 2007 will mark the 30th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death and I was recently inspired to write a song to my musical hero called “Dear Mr. Presley”. I’m happy to inform you that I’ve been invited down to Ottawa/Gatineau to sing it as a “special guest” at the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest at the Lac-Leamy Hilton & Casino; this Resort is world renowned and absolutely stunning! I can hardly believe I’m gonna be singing on that theatre stage on July 6, 2007! Thanks to Alison Wilson, of SugarPhyx Productions www.sugarphyx.com, Executive Producer of this Canadian stop of the contest, who heard my song and thought it would fit perfectly to inspire the contestants and drive home the truth about why they are there - to pay tribute to the man who birthed Rock N Roll, and inspired and touched so many lives around the world! For more info on the Contest put on by Elvis Presley Enterprises you can go to www.elvis.com/ultimatecontest or www.ultimateelvistributecontest.com. You can also hear the acoustic version of “Dear Mr. Presley” on my myspace page at www.myspace.com/brandileemorin. Right now the boys and I are recording it, so it will be available as a single in the near future. I’ve composed the bass and lead into just the right spots and Ray has added some sweet breaks to the end of the song, where we really hammer it home!! I can’t wait till we’ve recorded it so you can hear! I've also been blessed to have been sponsored for a kick-ass outfit from Sassy Seamstress downtown Edmonton. I'm gonna be right rocked out on that stage at the Lac-Leamy man!! They have some pretty sweet, unique outfits there go and visit them at #154, 10423-122 Street, Edmonton, AB or call Marina at 472-1022. Thank you SASSY SEAMSTRESS! Faith turned 8 on April 23rd and her and a few girlfriends got to go to the hair salon for a mini-manicure and hair style!! They were in a fantasy world I swear!! It was a lot of fun. She even had her first slumber party was interesting, lol. My dad bought her a beautiful Mandolin for her birthday, caused she wants to play. She’ll be taking her first lesson soon. Faith blows me away, at her age, she writes songs and sings so beautifully. At a recent talent show at her school she asked me to sing with her, we sang “You Are My Sunshine” and she did an excellent job! On May 10, Luke turned 7 and my family was in Vancouver at a Landmark course so we celebrated on May long. He and a couple of his good buddies got to go out to Dairy Queen and eat burgers & indulge in milkshakes, sundaes and banana splits!! (A rare occurrence in my house, lol) We then went out to the farm and hung out with some family and the boys (and Faith tagging along) got to play for hours in the tree house way in the back. It was cool when I snuck back there to watch them ‘cause it’s the same place where I used to endlessly play as a little girl and it stirred up so many memories and I was so happy for them. They had the time of their lives!! When it got dark we had hotdogs and I brought out my new Red, Electric Guitar, courtesy of Rebel Sound, plugged it into my amp and my sister Prista and I sang around the fire. My Dad and Uncle Rene joined in too. They had had a few and Elvis made an appearance, courtesy of Uncle Rene!!! We laughed and had a blast!! Dani-Lynn will turn three on June 10!! She’s growing up so fast. Still not wanting anything to do with being potty-trained yet though!! We’ve tried almost everything, oh well, she’ll be ready when she’s ready I guess. She tries her best to keep up to her older brother and sister, sometimes she gets hurt but she’s actually pretty tough, lol! Well that’s the short of the latest news with me!! I’ll be making journal entries more regular here to keep you all updated. Thanks so much for your support of me as an Artist, and I look forward to seeing you out at Farmer’s Days when we play!!
